Homicide investigation launched by RCMP on Red Earth First Nation

CARROT RIVER, Sask. – A homicide investigation was launched Saturday in east-central Saskatchewan. At around 11:20 a.m., Carrot River RCMP were called to an injured person on the Red Earth First Nation.

Upon arrival, officers found a deceased man in a residence. The 42-year-old victim’s name has not been released.

Investigators determined the man was the victim of homicide. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday at Saskatoon City Hospital.

According to RCMP, a 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man were arrested for murder at two residences on the reserve. At this time, no charges have been laid.

RCMP forensic identification services, the major crime unit south and the office of the chief coroner are assisting with the investigation.

Red Earth First Nation is approximately 290 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon.
