Canada’s Public Safety Minister is admitting there are fewer new RCMP officers in Surrey than he announced last month.
More than a month after the federal government announced that Surrey had 20 new police officers, Steven Blaney confessed that only six additional officers have actually been deployed.
Another 12 are coming, but can’t say how many of the promised 100 officers will be on the streets before the federal election in October.
“The number is evolving every day,” says Blaney. “There’s already more officers coming in the coming weeks. We will keep you updated, I’ll be more than happy to do so.”
