Pan Am Games road closures for July 10, 2015

TORONTO – The Pan Am Games torch relay and opening ceremony in downtown Toronto will result in a number of road closures for July 10.

On the final day of the relay, Marilyn Bell, the first person to swim across Lake Ontario, will carry the flame at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, where it will travel by ferryboat to Toronto Island.

The flame then returns to the mainland by police boat and be carried by Chief Mark Saunders.

The torch relay is scheduled to make the following stops at celebration sites:

  • Toronto Pearson International Airport, 6301 Silver Dart Drive, from 9:10 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.
  • Union Station, Station Street, from 9:51 a.m. to 10:06 a.m.
  • Osgoode Hall, 130 Queen Street West, from 10:17 a.m. to 10:23 a.m.
  • Sick Kids Hospital, 555 University Avenue, 10:32 a.m. to 11:02 a.m.
  • CIBC Commerce Court, 26 King Street West, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
  • Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, 9 Queen’s Quay West, at 12:28 p.m.
  • Toronto Island Park, from 1:05 p.m. to 1:10 p.m.
  • Royal Canadian Yacht Club, from 1:25 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Canada Park, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Rolling lane closures will be in effect as the torch-bearers move through Toronto streets and will include:

  • northbound University Avenue to College Street
  • westbound College Street to Spadina Road
  • southbound Spadina Road to King Street
  • eastbound King Street from Spadina Road to Jordan Street
  • southbound Yonge Street from Melinda Street to Queen’s Quay West

Opening Ceremony Road Closures:

The following closures will take effect from 1 p.m. to 12 a.m.:

  • eastbound lanes, Front Street, from Blue Jays Way to Simcoe Street
  • westbound lanes, Front Street, from Blue Jays Way to Simcoe Street

There will be a two-way conversion in that area.

The following closures will take effect from 3 p.m. to 12 a.m.:

  • westbound lanes, Bremner Boulevard, from the Metro Toronto Convention Centre driveway to Van De Water Crescent
  • eastbound lanes, Bremner Boulevard, from Van De Water Crescent to Lower Simcoe Street
  • northbound lanes, Rees Street, from Lakeshore Boulevard to Bremner Boulevard
  • the Rees Street chute from Lake Shore Boulevard will be closed

The following closures will take effect from 5:45 p.m. to 12 a.m.:

  • Front Street, continuing on to Wellington Street from Cherry Street to John Street
  • John Street from Wellington Street to Front Street
  • Front Street from John Street to Parliament Street
  • Parliament Street from Front Street to Lake Shore Boulevard
  • Lake Shore Boulevard to Cherry Street
  • Cherry Street from Front Street to Villiers Street
  • Villiers Street, in both directions, from Cherry Street the Don Roadway
