The B.C. government has set up a website where you can leave messages of thanks for the men and women currently battling the 179 wildfires across the province.

“This site is for you to let our brave firefighters know you support their efforts,” reads the webpage.

Click to leave a message on the board ”Messages for our firefighters“.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

There are already 119 pages of messages.

One comment reads:

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the time you are giving away from your home and families to work to save ours.

Firefighters have been leaving messages as well, in response to the outpouring of thanks and support.

Fire information officer Donna MacPherson wants to make sure everyone knows that when you leave a message, it does get through.

You have no idea how much it means to them to hear your warm comments and words of encouragement. And I often hear from the guys that they look up the website when they’re home, to see if anyone mentioned it.

Please keep it up… it means so much!
