Moose Jaw woman dead after possible explosion

REGINA – A buildup of sewer gas that was ignited by an arc in a light switch is being blamed for a Saskatchewan blaze that fatally injured a woman.

The 65-year-old burn victim died yesterday afternoon after being pulled from a home in Moose Jaw’s Trans-Canada Trailer Court on Monday.

She was rescued by another trailer court resident before being airlifted to a Regina hospital.

The Moose Jaw Fire Department says the woman was coherent enough to tell them there was an explosion when she turned on the light.
