UPDATE: Body of missing man found in Albert Dyck lake

UPDATE: The body of the 20-year-old man was recovered in the water at Albert Dyck Park this morning.

An RCMP dive team are on scene this morning in Abbotsford to search for a missing man in Albert Dyck lake.

The 20-year-old was in the lake Wednesday night with a group of friends when it appears he slipped and went underwater around 8:15 p.m.

Witnesses tell Global News nobody in the group could swim.

Officials say that part of the lake is off limits to swimmers because it drops off very sharply just a few meters from shore.

Firefighters were called and went into the water to look for the missing man.

Police, fire crews and Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue searched for the young man for several hours and well into the darkness, but had to suspend the search due to the poor visibility and concern for the staff in and on the water.
