London stabbing leaves woman dead; man in custody

TORONTO — Police have identified the victim in a fatal stabbing in London, Ont. early Wednesday.

London police responded to a medical distress call at 1825 Whitney St., near Avondale Rd., just after 3 a.m.

Officers who arrived on scene found a woman with stab wounds. She was transported to London Health Sciences Centre by ambulance and later died from her injuries.

Police have identified the victim as 50-year-old Suzan Aisha Jacob of London.

Police said 49-year-old Juma Kuol, who was allegedly known to the victim, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the stabbing.

No other suspects are currently being sought in the incident but police said the investigation is ongoing.
