The filming of a Hollywood blockbuster is ruffling some feathers in Squamish.
Star Trek 3 has begun filming in and around Vancouver.
On Thursday, film crews were seen nestled among the trees near the Stawamus Chief.
The code name for the production is “Washington.”
And while there are many Trekkies excited about the franchise shooting a new edition in B.C., not everyone is pleased.
Some locals told Global News the production closed off access to at least one popular trail and blocked part of the boulders, which are a popular rock-climbing venue.
BC Parks posted the following note on their site:
June 15 – July 6, 2015: Filming will be occurring in the Kacodemon Boulder and Black Dyke Boulder area at the Chief. Please expect delays on some trails throughout this time period. There will be no filming activity on weekends or holidays.
The movie expected to be released in July of next year.
