A fire burning near Harrison Lake is human caused, say officials.

The fire is to the northwest of Harrison Lake and is 5,000 square metres, or 0.5 hectares, in size. It started shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Water bombers are fighting the fire along with crews from both the BC Wildfire Branch and the Harrison Hot Springs Fire Department.

Fire Information Officer Donna McPherson says the fire is not contained and the steep slopes are presenting a challenge.
