Who needs a guard dog when you have a cat that can scare off wildlife?
It was unusual behaviour for two-year-old Savannah cat Nani, according to owner Darlis Elliott.
“She’s really such a ‘fraidy-cat most of the time,” Elliott told NBC affiliate KTUU. “She probably wouldn’t have lunged if we weren’t standing right behind her.”

The video, which has garnered 290,000 views in two days on YouTube, shows a black bear wandering onto Elliott’s porch at her Alaska home Sunday afternoon. Nani crouches down behind the glass door as the bear peers through it.

Nani suddenly pounces at the bear, causing it to stumble back and fall off the porch.
“She was watching him until he turned his face to the door, and that’s when she pounced,” said Elliott.
Elliott says seeing wildlife on her property is a fairly regular occurrence. She has even posted several videos of bear spottings on her YouTube page.
However, it doesn’t seem like this particular bear will be returning anytime soon. Elliott says she has yet to see this bear return after its encounter with Nani.
