TORONTO – Toronto Police are hoping the release of new information to the public and an increased reward will help them solve a cold case murder dating back 35 years.

“Over time and sometimes of great deal of time, peoples’ attitudes change, relationships change, and people may have a nagging whisper in their ears about doing the right things,” Insp. Peter Moreira said at a conference Friday morning.

Police are now offering a $50,000 reward for information in connection with the murder of Larry Roberts, a Brink’s security guard shot and killed on April 24, 1980.

The 29-year-old and his coworker were ambushed by three suspects as they delivered a large sum of money to a TD Bank branch at Agincourt Mall.

The other guard was also shot in the incident but survived his injuries.

Police have released an aged composite sketch of one of the suspects and now say they believe a woman was also involved in the incident, after police allege they found a woman’s DNA profile.

“With the advancements in technology in the areas of DNA and finger printing, we can sometimes see what investigators could not see at the time of the initial investigation,” Moreira said.

The suspects took off with $178,000 in a stolen car that was later found. Authorities say the case has connections to Ontario, Alberta and Quebec.

At the time of the robbery, the suspects were described as follows:
