TORONTO — The actress who played Cindy Brady on the ’70s series The Brady Bunch says she used to make out with the actor playing her stepbrother Bobby.

“We led a sheltered life for part of the year so if there was anybody to get a crush on or try to date, it would be our counterparts,” Susan Olsen explained in an interview with news.com.au.

Now 53, Olsen said she and Mike Lookinland were around nine years old when they swapped spit in the doghouse on the set of The Brady Bunch.

The actress also revealed that Eve Plumb, who played Jan Brady, hooked up with Christopher Knight, who played her stepbrother Peter Brady.

Olsen also confirmed longstanding rumours that Plumb and Maureen McCormick (Marcia Brady) don’t get along in real life.

“I think it’s kind of petty,” Olsen said of their feud. “From day one with these two I have always been in the middle and now it’s at the point where there isn’t even a desire to communicate through me.

“I understand both sides of the story but I’m a little more inclined to be sympathetic to Eve.”

Olsen was the youngest star of the sitcom, which ran from September 1969 to March 1974. She said all the cast members knew Robert Reed, who played their father, was gay.

“He never ever had any intentions of coming out of the closet and I think he might have been mortified to know that we knew,” she recalled.

“I found out when I was nine from my [mom] but none of us ever talked about it because we didn’t think it was a big deal.”
