A York Regional Police officer faces a sexual assault charge stemming from an alleged incident during a traffic stop.
Ontario’s police watchdog, the Special Investigations Unit, received a complaint against the officer on January 4, the same day as the traffic stop in Richmond Hill.
The SIU says it has “reasonable grounds to believe” the officer “committed a criminal offence against a 21-year-old woman.”
Const. Young Min von Seefried faces one charge of sexual assault.
The officer is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on July 21.
