WINNIPEG — If you feel stuck in your three year cell phone contract, you can finally get out of it early.
“Today is the day I had circled on my calendar,” said Samantha Anderson, who spent the afternoon going to different stores in Kildonan Place to see who could give her the best deal.
“I have been dealing with the cracked phone for the past three months,” said Anderson, whose three year contract was supposed to expire in December 2015.
She ended up finding the phone she wanted at Rogers and cancelled her contract through MTS. All she needed was the contract number and two pieces of identification.
Thanks to new rules from the CRTC, she is able to cancel without paying a penalty.
Doug Dauphinais is also looking to make a switch.
He is under a three year contract with Rogers.
“If they can offer a a really good deal we will stick with them, if not we will see who will swing the better deal,” he said.
