Whistler RCMP are busy investigating a second stabbing in as many days during May long weekend.
It was reported just before midnight on Sunday on Whistler Way.
Officers attended and located a 19-year-old victim who was suffering from multiple stab wounds.
The victim was taken to a local clinic and then transported to Vancouver for medical treatment.
A 17-year-old Vancouver resident was arrested on June 15 and charged with aggravated assault.
As a result of our investigation, we recommended charges to Crown Counsel and obtain a warrant for the suspect,
said Sgt. Rob Knapton, operations NCO for the Whistler RCMP, The suspect appeared in court on June 15 and was held in custody to re-appear on June 18.
Whistler RCMP are not releasing the name of the suspect as he is unable to be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Another 19-year-old man, from the Lower Mainland, was fatally stabbed in the Upper Village area of Whistler Saturday night. Investigators call the death suspicious, and there are several suspects in custody.
They say there is nothing to indicate that the two incidents are related.
The two incidents come on a weekend notorious for trouble in the resort town.
“A lot of young folks come up and they’re looking for a good time, the majority of them, but there’s a small element just looking to create trouble and party,” Whistler resident Ross McGaw told Global News.
RCMP are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the most recent incident.
