Calgary Stampede on a wild ride with its new marketing ad

A Calgary Stampede advertisement is attracting a lot of attention, but for the wrong reasons.

It is called, “Champions Buckle Up“, and there is growing sentiment of disappointment over the marketing campaign.

Many people have said the ad does not appropriately represent women.

Global News showed the ad to a group of feminists, who said it focuses on the white, male cowboy as the champion.

The Calgary Stampede marketing team said the ad is a matter of taste and opinion; they take criticisms seriously, but stress the ad is meant to be fun, and not to be read into too deeply.

Officials also said the feedback received has been overwhelmingly positive.
