WADENA, Sask. – A man wanted by Saskatchewan RCMP in connection to sexual assault charges was arrested on the weekend. On May 10, RCMP took Vincent Alex Desjarlais, 49, into custody outside a residence on Fishing Lake First Nation.

A health care worker called Wadena RCMP in May 2014 to report a girl, under 16 years old, had been sexually assaulted.

After an investigation, Desjarlais was charged in June 2014 with the following offences: sexual interference of a person under the age of 16, procuring miscarriage, assault and two counts of sexual assault.

Investigators believed Desjarlais had been actively evading police in Manitoba and/or Saskatchewan. There was a warrant for his arrest.

Desjarlais, of Kylemore, Sask., is scheduled to make his first court appearance Tuesday morning.
