KELOWNA — Kelowna RCMP have shed some more light on an assault at a local park.
Global Okanagan first reported that police were investigating a serious assault at Davie Park in Rutland Saturday night and that neighbours were being questioned.
Neighbours reported seeing a group of older teens run into the park and that one of them was carrying what looked like a heavy piece of pipe.
On Monday, police revealed that two groups had met at the park and that a male was struck in the head with a blunt object. His friends rushed him to hospital.
The victim is 18 and from Armstrong. His name has not been released.
Police say the male suffered serious head injuries.
So far, there have been no arrests.
