UPDATE: Crews battle a fire near Siwash Rock in Stanley Park

A fireboat has been dispatched to fight a difficult two-alarm fire in Stanley Park.

Vancouver firefighters were called to the park late last night for reports of a tree on fire near Siwash Rock.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

When they arrived, they found the cliff above the rock on fire.

Crews had to call in a fireboat to battle the flames from the water.

Crews also sprayed water on the fire from the seawall and from above on the cliff.

The fire is now contained and luckily there is very little damage.

The battalion chief says the blaze seems to have started as a camp fire. It’s been deemed accidental in nature.
