Police made a public appeal for help Sunday morning after they couldn’t immediately identify Nero. His family saw his description, contacted police and confirmed his identity. Police didn’t make his name public but friends have since identified him. His Facebook page has become a memorial where friends are remembering the young man.

Police haven’t identified a suspect in the hit-and-run and haven’t found the vehicle that caused the injuries, but believe it has substantial damage to its windshield.
