WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Jets announced Monday morning its AHL affiliate will again be called the Manitoba Moose when they return to the provincial capital.

The Jets announced in March that its American Hockey League affiliate, the St. John’s IceCaps, will return to the city as early as 2015-16.

The team was formerly known as the Manitoba Moose and played in Winnipeg starting in 1996, when the Jets left the city. The team became the IceCaps when it moved to St. John’s in 2011, when the new Jets franchise played its first season at the MTS Centre.
The Montreal Canadiens AHL team, the Hamilton Bulldogs, will replace the IceCaps in Newfoundland.
