Alberta Election 2015: Wildrose’s Angela Pitt wins Airdrie

The Wildrose Party has held on to the riding of Airdrie.

Angela Pitt, owner of Airdrie Events, won with nearly 7,500 votes.

The NDP and PCs finished second and third, respectively, in a tight race.

It was one of many southern Alberta ridings that the Wildrose took an a historic election night.

Airdrie became a new riding in 2012. The former riding included Airdrie-Chestermere.

Rob Anderson was elected as a Progressive Conservative in the former riding in 2008. He crossed the floor to join the Wildrose and was elected in the new riding under that party in 2012.

Anderson crossed the floor back to the PC party in December 2014 and was not running in the 2015 election.
