Alberta Election 2015: NDP’s Irfan Sabir wins Calgary-McCall

The NDP’s Irfan Sabir has won the riding of Calgary-McCall.

Sabir won with 37 per cent of the vote in early results.The Wildrose’s Happy Mann came in second with 23 per cent.

Calgary-McCall riding has a varied political history: It went conservative in 1979 and remained Tory until 2008, when Liberal Darshan Kang won. Kang retained his seat in 2012, but is now seeking a seat with the federal Liberals.

The riding is in the city’s far northeast and is one of the most ethnically diverse in the province. It includes the communities of Skyview Ranch, Saddle Ridge, Martindale, Castleridge and Falconridge.

  • NDP: Irfan Sabir
  • Wildrose: Happy Mann
