Man and teen facing prostitution, human trafficking charges: Halifax police

HALIFAX – A man and a teenage boy are facing prostitution and human trafficking charges following an investigation by police in Halifax.

Halifax Regional Police working with local RCMP arrested Richard Hover Cooper, 25, and a 16-year-old boy after an investigation led to a pair of searches on Thursday– one on Hastings Drive in Dartmouth and one on Old Sambro Road in Halfax — they say uncovered evidence of the crimes.

Police say the investigation involved Cooper and the other suspect allegedly prostituting a 17-year-old girl, a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old woman.

Cooper is due in Dartmouth Provincial Court Friday to face 13 charges including  including procuring a person to offer sexual services, making child pornography, sexual assault and trafficking a person under the age of 18.

The boy is due in Halifax Provincial Youth Court Friday to face 14 changes including procuring a person to offer sexual services, making child pornography, trafficking a person under the age of 18 and failure to comply with probation.

Investigators say there could be more victims and are asking anybody with information to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
