NEAR MERRITT — A pick-up truck was destroyed by fire on the Coquihalla Highway Monday afternoon.
Witness, Nathalie Tusznio, caught some of the incident on tape.
She says the incident took place about 15 minutes past the Merritt rest stop driving towards Kelowna/Peachland on the highway.
“It appears that the truck was driving up the hill and somehow landed in the ditch, which then possibly due to impact, caused the truck to burn,” she says.
Tusznio says there did not appear to be any skid marks and that there appeared to be a small trailer leaning against the burning truck.
She says there didn’t appear to be other vehicles involved in the incident.
RCMP say the occupants got out safely after the engine caught fire.
