SASKATOON – Major crime detectives are following up on a suspicious death at a Saskatoon motel. Police confirmed Sunday it is the city’s fifth homicide of 2015.
Officers were initially called to an injured person early Saturday morning in the 600-block of Idylwyld Drive North.
At this time, police believe an altercation occurred inside a motel room and spilled into the parking lot, which left a 44-year-old man with life-threatening injuries.
The injured man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:05 a.m. His name is not being released.

Police say this incident does not appear to be a random act although the relationship between the victim and his attacker is not yet confirmed.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday in Edmonton.
The Northwoods Inn and Suites parking lot remains cordoned off while forensic officers process the scene.
