WATCH ABOVE: Officers are investigating a suspicious death that includes two crime scenes: one in Edmonton and one in St. Albert.
EDMONTON — The death of a 25-year-old man, whose body was found in an apartment building parking lot in St. Albert Monday night, has been deemed a homicide.
The Edmonton Police Service said Wednesday Trevor Keith Deleeuw died of gunshot wounds.
Edmonton police and RCMP are involved in the investigation, which involves two scenes: the parking lot where the victim was found, and a parking lot in an industrial area on the western edge of Edmonton where he may have been shot.
EPS said a shooting happened around 9 p.m. Monday near 215 Street (Winterburn Road) and 115 Avenue.
Less than an hour later, Deleeuw’s body was discovered in the parking lot of Nevada Place Apartments, a newer complex on the northwest side of St. Albert.
St. Albert RCMP say members were called to the parking lot and discovered the “lifeless body of a man with obvious signs of trauma.” The investigation determined the death didn’t happen in St. Albert, but rather the Edmonton location, so the EPS has taken the lead on the case.
Homicide detectives are interviewing witnesses, who police say are being cooperative. There are no suspects at this time, according to Edmonton police.
Deleeuw’s death is Edmonton’s sixth homicide of 2015.
