PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – A Good Samaritan almost became the victim of a jewelry theft over the Easter long weekend. Prince Albert, Sask. police say a person showed up at the victim’s door in the 700-block of 1st Avenue East on April 5 pretending to be hurt and wanting to use the phone.
Once inside, the suspect asked for a glass of water and when left alone, stole a jewelry box.
While being pursued by the victim, the suspect dropped the jewelry box and its contents.
Police say the suspect was not violent or threatening toward the victim at any time. No injuries were reported.
The suspect is described as aboriginal, tall, skinny with a big nose and was wearing a hat backwards.

Prince Albert police say these types of situations are occurring in the city. They are advising people that if someone comes to the door saying they’re injured, they should call 911 or the police as there is no obligation to open the door or let strangers into your house.
