CALGARY – The RCMP arrested two Alberta men in their early twenties Sunday, in relation to the March 29 disappearance of Nicholas Lush and the assault that happened on the same day that was witnessed by a passing motorist on Highway 1 at the Hermitage overpass near Cochrane.
From the arrests and evidence gathered, the RCMP confirmed that both incidents are connected.
32-year-old Nick Lush was last seen leaving a house party with two people early that Sunday morning.
Just before 9 a.m. that same morning, an assault involving three people was reported by a passerby on Highway 1 at the Hermitage overpass near Cochrane.
Lush still hasn’t been located and the RCMP remain hopeful he may still be found alive.
The RCMP in Cranbrook, B.C. arrested the two men earlier on Sunday without incident and they are being held by Airdrie RCMP.
At the time of their arrest both suspects were in the grey 2008 Dodge Charger, Alberta licence BDY-1907 that police had been looking for.
The Dodge Charger has been secured for forensic examination. The two suspects face charges in the disappearance of Lush.
The second investigation into the serious assault was reported at about 8:40 a.m., the same day as Lush’s disappearance.
A witness reported having seen two males assaulting another male on the side of Highway 1 near the Hermitage Road underpass.
All three males were then seen leaving that location in a four-door grey car east on Highway 1 by the witness.
The police continue to ask for the public’s assistance in locating Lush.
He’s described as 5”2”, 140 pounds, with brown eyes, brown hair and has flames tattooed on his left arm and a demon skull on his right shoulder, a scroll scribble on his stomach and various other tattoos on his hands.
Lush was last seen wearing a black “Sons of Anarchy” t-shirt, a green camouflage spring jacket, blue jeans, and black DC running shoes.
