Apartment block fire rousts west Winnipeg residents

WINNIPEG – An early morning fire on the ground floor of a three-storey building chased residents into the cold at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The fire at 72 Quail Ridge Road in the Assiniboia area started on a deck and spread to a suite, firefighters said. No one was in the suite when the fire started.

Fire crews quickly doused the blaze in the neighbourhood west of Sturgeon Road and south of Saskatchewan Avenue.
