Kelowna car chase ends in crash after hit and run driver flees

KELOWNA — It was a wild ride Thursday afternoon in Kelowna that all started with a two-vehicle crash in Rutland. One of the drivers from the crash, behind the wheel of a blue and white pick-up truck, sped away and that’s when a full-on chase ensued.

The other driver involved in the crash and a witness chased after the pick-up, darting down numerous streets in the city.

The pick-up driver ended up on Harvey Avenue and attempted to make a left and turn onto Cooper Road, but got into another accident.

He and a female passenger then jumped out of the truck and fled the scene on foot. One of the drivers in chasing vehicles caught up to the man and tackled him to the ground. Police took it from there.

The man diving the pickup truck told Global News, “I messed up.”
