Motorists urged to drive according to winter road conditions

Drive according to road conditions – that’s the message from the Alberta Motor Association (AMA) on Monday.

Ron Wilson, Manager of Driver Education at AMA, says a speed limit of 110 km/hr does not mean drivers should drive at that speed in weather conditions like the ones we are seeing throughout parts of southern Alberta.

Whether it’s wintry or spring-like outside, drivers should increase their following distance on wet days.

But he also says winter tire season is coming to an end.

“We typically say by the end of March as weather warms up, switch your tires out,” says Wilson.

He says winter tires will wear out more quickly if driven on dry roads.
