Shotgun seized after Saskatoon police chase stolen car

SASKATOON – Four people were arrested after a stolen vehicle chase in Saskatoon Saturday afternoon. Police are also investigating a reported shooting which is believed to be related.

Just after 2 p.m., a motorist reported a vehicle driving erratically on 22nd Street West. The caller also indicated that one of the occupants had a firearm.

Police located the vehicle on the west edge of the city and determined it had been reported stolen in Alberta. A brief pursuit ensued, however the chase was called off due to a risk to public safety.

A short time later the suspect vehicle was found in the Hudson Bay Park neighbourhood.  Police eventually boxed-in the car using patrol cars in a back alley near Avenue B and 33rd Street.

Two men, ages 19 and 24, a 19-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy were arrested. Numerous charges are pending, according to police.

A sawed-off shotgun was seized.

While authorities were dealing with the incident, a person came to the police station and reported that their vehicle had been shot at near Fairlight Drive and 22nd Street.

Investigators feel the two incidents are connected at this time.

No injuries were reported.
