SASKATOON – A last ditch effort to save the Farnam Block in Saskatoon has failed. Exterior demolition began Friday morning on the historic 103-year-old landmark on Broadway Avenue.

The new owners, Roger Kiva and Dean Potapinski, said the building was beyond repair after looking at all options to save the structure.

Local heritage advocates tried to save the Farnam Block, but were presented with a strict deadline to raise the funds needed. The deadline passed on Thursday at noon.
