ORLANDO, Fla. – A civil rights group says it intends to sue the FBI over the death of a Chechen man who was fatally shot while being questioned about a Boston Marathon bombing suspect.

The Council of American-Islamic Relations Florida on Monday filed a notice of claim stating its intention to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the Federal Bureau of Investigation over the death of Ibragim Todashev.

Todashev was killed at his Florida apartment about a month after the April 15, 2013, marathon bombings.

FBI agents were interviewing Todashev as they looked into the background of bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

FBI agents say Todashev became agitated while signing a statement about his role in another crime – triple killings in Massachusetts in 2011.

The rights group says the FBI mishandled the interrogation.
