VANCOUVER – It’s week two of the Canada Winter Games and competition is once again underway.
One of the venues hosting the ski competitions is the Otway Nordic Ski Center in Prince George. It received a three-million dollar facelift before the start of the games and was put on display last week for the biathlon events.
“We had great medal performances,” said Kevin Pettersen, Caledonia Nordic Ski Club president. “Emily Dickson was just phenomenal. “Claire Lapointe as well. And they brought home gold as a team and Emily brought home a collection of bronze, silver and gold.”
The cross country competition started on Monday.
Pettersen said he hopes the games are a stepping stone to some other big sporting events being held in Prince George.
“We’ve completely upgraded the competition trails,” he said. “They are now certified to international standards.”
