HALIFAX- Devon Marteeko Downey, 25, of Halifax has been charged with manslaughter in the 2012 homicide of Kaylin Diggs.
Downey turned himself in to police early Thursday and was subsequently arrested. Downey appeared in Halifax Provincial court Thursday afternoon, where he was released from custody on $2,500 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court next on March 6.
Diggs was out with friends on the night of August 11, 2012, and walking down Argyle Street when police say he was assaulted and knocked to the ground. The 26-year-old died later n hospital.
The arrest comes more than two years after the incident.
