A blown power line in Yaletown has darkened much of the neighbourhood for hours, with many businesses closing for the evening.
It happened just after 3 p.m. today on Hamilton street, shutting down power between Drake Street, Richards Street, Pacific Boulevard, Cambie Street and Nelson Street. BC Hydro has said power will be restored sometime 8 and 10 p.m.
The outage has forced many businesses to shut down for the evening.
However, some appear to be making the most of the situation.

The frustrating situation for many businesses caused Pino Posteraro, chef at Cioppino’s Mediterranean Grill, to vent online.
“Perhaps instead of bike lanes money should be stirred towards underground power line?,” he wrote.
“Is there anymore ways to damage a business? Pre-Valentine dinners and they say power now back at 22:00?”
Still others found humour in the situation.
