WATCH: Dog runs away from home to track down owner in hospital

Dale Francks said he panicked when he couldn’t find his and his wife Nancy’s 10-year-old Miniature Schnauzer, Sissy. He thought he had lost the dog after letting Sissy and her brother Barney out of the house to go to the bathroom.

Little did he know, Sissy was on a mission to find Nancy, who was recovering from surgery at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Sissy walked 20 blocks to the hospital, although the Francks said she would not have known where Nancy was receiving treatment.

For four hours, Dale tried his best to track down the beloved dog.

“Then I got a call from Mercy security,” he told KWWL. “They say, ‘We have a little dog here.’”

Security footage shows Sissy trotting through the hospital’s automated doors and roaming around the foyer and through the hallways.

“The way she walked into the hospital, she was on a mission,” said the Francks’ daughter Sarah Wood.

Dale and Nancy are grateful Sissy safely made her way to the hospital and did not get lost.

“It’s amazing, and it’s God’s wish that we got her back,” said Dale.
