Bobbi Kristina to be taken off life support on anniversary of mom’s death: report

UPDATE: Christopher Brown, a lawyer for Bobbi Kristina’s father Bobby Brown, issued a statement Tuesday afternoon: “The false reports that continue to appear in print and on the internet are egregious, false and will be dealt with at an appropriate time. In particular, the false reporting of TMZ, The National Enquirer, The Atlanta Journal Constitution and the Daily Mail (UK) citing police sources, family sources and Bobby Brown himself, will receive my attention. The desire to be ‘first’ has clouded the judgment of many reporters as they forgo accuracy. This is a criminal investigation and the integrity of that process requires silence.”

TORONTO — The family of Bobbi Kristina Brown will take her off life support Wednesday — the third anniversary of her mother Whitney Houston’s death.

This is the startling claim of the New York Post, which published a front-page story Tuesday with the headline: “Date With Death.”

Brown, 21, has been in a medically induced coma since being found unresponsive in the bathtub of her Atlanta area townhouse on Jan. 31.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

According to multiple reports, doctors at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta advised her father — R&B singer Bobby Brown — there is nothing they can do.

Houston died Feb. 11, 2012 after being found in a bathtub in her suite at the Beverly Hilton hotel. She was 48.

According to the Post, the Brown family will pull the plug at midnight because they believe it is “a symbolic way to keep the mother and daughter together for eternity.”

The newspaper cited unnamed sources close to the family.

Relatives and friends, including actor-director Tyler Perry, have been visiting Bobbi Kristina at the hospital.

Bobbi Kristina was found face down in the bathtub by Max Lomas, a friend who was charged in January for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a generic form of Xanax.

Nick Gordon, who she called her husband, was also in the house. CNN reported Monday that he is currently the focus of the police investigation into what happened to Bobbi Kristina.

Although never formally adopted, Gordon was raised by Houston.

Police in Roswell, Georgia are not commenting on their investigation and did not say if drugs were found at Bobbi Kristina’s home.

Whitney Houston’s death was ruled an accidental drowning, with heart disease and cocaine use as contributing factors.

In an eerie coincidence, Bobbi Kristina’s 74-year-old cousin, singer Dionne Warwick, spent two weeks in hospital in January after slipping and falling in her shower.
