TORONTO – Samsung is expected to give fans the first look at its latest flagship Galaxy phone during a media event on March 1. The tech giant sent out invitations to the media Monday for a “Samsung Galaxy Unpacked” event in Barcelona.

The invitation offers little information about the event, but teases “what’s next” for the Galaxy smartphone line.

The event will take place during the Mobile World Congress – the same event where Samsung unveiled its Galaxy S5 smartphone last year. The S5 featured a built-in heart-rate sensor, improved camera features and a slightly larger screen.

Some have speculated Samsung could add a curved screen to the Galaxy S6, based on a teaser image shown on the invitation sent out Monday. This would follow in the footsteps of the Galaxy Note Edge, released in September.

On the Note Edge, the main screen remains flat like previous phones, but the right edge extends and curves until it reaches the back. That creates a side display so information such as weather and time can be seen from the side when the phone is on a table.

Other reports suggest the Galaxy S5 might feature a metal body.
