HALIFAX – Nobody was injured Thursday morning in Dartmouth when a garbage truck slid down a slippery street and badly damaged two cars.
Just after 11:30 a.m., resident Wayne Morris said the garbage truck, which was trying to get up Berwick Street, started sliding on the ice and wound up crushing the two vehicles.
“We heard a large bang…and then we heard a buzzing sound,” he said.
“I happened to look out our bedroom window and saw the garbage truck on top of our neighbour’s car.”
Morris said he had a flash of fear about whether his neighbour was inside the vehicle, but both cars were empty.
“It was totally flattened. The back end of the garbage truck landed right on top of it,” he said.
