TORONTO – Seattle Seahawks fans can take their tailgate parties to a whole new level thanks to a Washington-based marijuana distributor.

Solstice, a pot producer based in Seattle, has released “The 12th Pack” ahead of the local NFL franchise’s upcoming appearance at Super Bowl XLIX. The name is a play on the Seahawks’ infamous “12th man” fan support at CenturyLink Field and it’s already an instant hit.

The first batch was sold out within 15 minutes of releasing a promotional video on social media.

Nearly every employee was asked to stop what they were doing and start rolling joints – which included a crash course for the rookies – to ready the next shipment of 1000 units by Sunday.

“We definitely weren’t ready for the speed of [the sales],” Joe Santucci, Director of Sales and Marketing, told KING 5 News. “We’ve had to switch everything over. We have stopped trimming. We have stopped packing capsules.”

Meanwhile, some New England Patriots fans have allegedly started throwing stones – calling Seahawks fans “stoners”. Fortunately for Seattle fans, the Pats have already given them ammunition for a witty reply.

Every package contains 12 pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes – or joints – each weighing half a gram. According to the promotional video, inside each joint is a blend of the “Blueberry Cheesecake” and “Headband” cannabis strains.

The consumption of weed has been legal in the state of Washington since a 56 to 44 percent vote in the 2012 federal election passed Initiative 502 and got the ball rolling, or joint, in this case.

The only catch for the lead up to the Super Bowl – don’t spark up in public. Doing so, according to Leafly, comes with a $100 fine if caught.

One other issue certain Seahawks fans face on game day is to remember to look up from the nacho bowl once or twice – the Super Bowl should take priority over “the munchies”.

Solstice plans to have all 1000 packs, or 12,000 joints, in its 26 stores by Super Bowl Sunday with the intention to sell the product regularly to recreational users by the fall of this year – in time for next season.
