VANCOUVER – New traffic figures for the Port Mann Bridge are out and it shows a decline in drivers over the toll bridge.
The new Port Mann Bridge was opened on Dec. 1, 2012 as part of the Port Mann/Highway 1 Improvement Project. Regular tolling went into effect on Jan. 1, 2014 following a one-year introductory period.
The company running the bridge, TI Corp, says debt levels have reached $3.6 billion and its deficit is expected to grow. However, they are saying it is still on track to meet all payments.
BC NDP’s opposition says if the numbers do not start to climb, the deficit will rise when revenue is not being met.
