Dramatic video shows man rescued by Disney cruise ship

A 22-year-old man was rescued off the coast of Cozumel, Mexico by a Disney Cruise line ship last week after falling overboard from a Royal Caribbean luxury cruise ship hours earlier.

The young man was plucked from the water on Jan. 8 after his cries for help were heard by a passenger aboard a passing Disney Magic cruise, according to ABC.

Scott Campbell told ABC he heard a man screaming in the water around 6:30 a.m. while he was on his balcony with his daughter.

“I thought it was a weird-sounding bird,” Campbell said. “I’ll never forget the scream, ‘Somebody help me.'”

Video of the rescue shows the man swimming through high waves toward an orange lifeboat apparently belonging to the Disney Magic.

A blog for the Royal Caribbean cruise line identified the man as Frank Jade but did not give any further details.

The cruise line said the man is reported to be in stable condition without serious injuries after being taken to a private medical clinic in Punta Langosta, Mexico.

Cozumel Port Captain Alfonso Rodriguez told CNN the man does not remember how he fell overboard and was later flown back to the United States.

“This man was reborn. Most people, that experience, that kind of fall, break their neck. It’s like hitting concrete,” Rodriguez said.
