UPDATE: Two 16-year-olds charged in Regina’s first homicide of 2015

REGINA – Regina Police have made arrests in connection with the city’s first homicide of 2015 after a 16-year-old girl was found dead on Monday night.

Two 16-year-olds are facing first-degree murder charges in connection with the death.

Police are also confirming that they are investigating a property near Edenwold in connection with the homicide.

Police were called to a home in the 400 block of Garnet Street North by a family member of the victim just after 5:40 p.m. Monday where they found the girl’s body inside.

The teen has been identified and her family has been notified but her name is not being released.

“It isn’t unusual for us to allow families some time to absorb the news, and also to let extended family know,” added Popowich.

Both 16-year-olds made their first court appearance in youth court on Wednesday morning.
