VANCOUVER – The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called to Chilliwack Tuesday morning after a man was found dead.
That man has now been identified as Stu Ellis, or Stuart David Ellis. He is a 39-year-old resident of Chilliwack.
Chilliwack RCMP were called just after 11 p.m. Monday after a car crashed in the area of 9140 Hazel Street. Officers quickly determined the male occupant had sustained fatal injuries.
IHIT says the Ellis’ injuries are believed to be inconsistent with the crash.
At this time IHIT investigators do not believe this was a random act, and there is no reason to be concerned for public safety.
A portion of Chilliwack near Hazel Street and 1st Avenue remains cordoned off at this time, however IHIT is doing everything possible to minimize the effect on residents in the area.
