Winnipeg Transit fares rise Thursday

WINNIPEG – Transit buses will cost riders another nickel starting Thursday.

Bus fares for all riders will rise five cents in the new year. The prices for tickets and passes will also go up.

Riders who use tickets can use their old tickets by adding a nickel to the fare until March 31. Those paying with senior or reduced fare tickets do not have to add cash. Old tickets can also be exchanged for new ones by paying the difference at customer service centres at the Portage Avenue and Main Street underground concourse, the Millennium Library downtown at 251 Donald St., the transit administration office at B-414 Osborne St. or the Transit Business Service Centre at 65 Garry St.

Increases are:

Full fare
Cash – $2.60 (from $2.55)
Ticket – $2.25 (from $2.20)
Max 5 (weekday pass) – $20.25 (from $19.80)
SuperPass (Mon.-Sun. pass) – $22.50 (from $22)
Monthly pass – $86.65 (from $84.70)

Reduced (youth) fare
Cash – $2.10 (from $2.05)
Ticket – $1.57 (from $1.53)
SuperPass (Mon.-Sun. pass) – $15.70 (from $15.30)
Monthly pass – $60.45 (from $58.90)

Senior fare
Cash – $2.10 (from $2.05)
Ticket – $1.13 (from $1.10)
SuperPass (Mon.-Sun. pass) – $11.25 (from $11)
Monthly pass – $43.35 (from $42.35)

Post-secondary
Monthly pass – $69.35 (from $67.75)

Handi-Transit
Cash – $2.60 (from $2.55)
Ticket – $2.25 (from $2.20)
Senior ticket – $1.13 (from $1.10)
Post-secondary student pass – $69.35 (from $67.75)
