After IVF surprise, mom gives birth to two sets of identical twins

A Utah couple that went viral for their announcement photo welcomed two sets of identical twins on Sunday.

Indie, Esme, Scarlett and Evangeline – also known as the “Quad Squad” – were born at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah.

Photos of mom Ashley Gardner’s priceless reaction to her first ultrasound were posted online this past August.

After several years of trying to get pregnant, Ashley and her husband Tyson had finally saved enough to try in-vitro fertilization (IVF).

The procedure worked and the couple found out that they were expecting in July, but they were not expecting quadruplets.

Ashley told CNN that the chance of her conceiving two sets of identical twins were 1 in 70 million.

A video posted to the family’s Facebook support page shows Tyson and Ashley a few hours before she gave birth by Caesarean section. They thank their fans for support and ask for prayer.

The babies were delivered 12 weeks earlier than expected after doctors discovered that Ashley had some ruptured membranes and continued to experience contractions growing in intensity.

Each of the four girls weighed around two pounds at birth and everyone is reportedly doing well.
