Canucks fan has Christmas wish come true, shares it with others

A Terrace hockey fan had one wish–to travel to Vancouver to meet Canucks players and go to a game at Rogers Arena. Children’s Wish was able to help Josh, who has a type of muscular dystrophy, get what he wanted and the 18-year-old decided to pay it forward by sharing his time with Canucks stars with kids in need.

Josh and his family got to spend some time with Canucks players Alex Burrows and Kevin Bieksa.

“It’s just an honour to give back,” says Burrows. “It’s so much fun to see younger people look up to us and if we’re able give back and change one day of their life, it feels very good.”

Josh didn’t want to make his wish all about himself. Even though he isn’t directly associated with Canuck Place, he wanted to bring the hockey stars to the children’s hospice to brighten the day of kids who are also struggling with serious illness.

Josh’s family isn’t surprised that he wanted to share his big day with others.

“That’s Josh,” says stepdad Joe. “That’s just the way he is. He wants to share. He wants everyone to enjoy themselves.”

Josh will cap his day by watching the Canucks take on the Calgary Flames at Rogers Arena. Burrows asked Josh to bring a “good luck charm” to help the Canucks end their five-game losing streak.
